Kudarah Thila
|
Just south of Kudarah resort island, this is in a spectacular thila (under water pinnacle) dive, 45 minutes by boat. This is a protected marine area by the government of Maldives, just about 100m in diameter often be circumnavigated in a single dive, except when strong currents are present. Located in the middle of two long reefs and swept by ocean currents the thila offers very unusual topography. The reef rises from 40m to 12m on the top of the reef which has fantastic coral growth on deeply curved four coral blocks. Gorgonian sea fans, black coral trees and a variety of colorful soft corals grow on the ceiling. The gullies between the pinnacles are filled with hundreds of bluelined snappers and many other reef fishes and a variety of tropical reef fishes.
