PROFILE
Introduction
Faculty Marine Studies & Water Sports (MS&WS) under Villa College was registered at the Department of Higher Education and Training of The Ministry of Higher Education, Employment, and Social Security on the 28th of January 2007. Its birth is the result of Villa Group’s resolve to empower Maldivians in the Diving and Water Sports industry with the announcement of new resorts in the Maldives. Although the Institute is especially for Water Sports MS&WS will train personals Marine Biology and Oceanography both locals and forign students

Faculty
Currently MS & WS has got five permanent faculty members. One PADI Course Director highest level in the PADI continue education system, one PADI Master Instructor, two PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor and and Marine Research Assistant.

Facilities
MS&WS is located in Sun Island Resort & Spa South A.Dh. Atoll. The ground floor has four classrooms accommodating 110 students; fully equipped dive center registered as a PADI five star Instructor Development Center, marine laboratory, equipment maintenance and repair training workshop, Hyperbaric Clinic and video lab. The first floor consists of 19 rooms which can accommodate over 50 students.

Study Programs
Currently MS&WS is a PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) the largest diver training organization certifying over 70 percent of the world divers.
MS&WS offers PADI Open Water Diver training to Divemaster level (professional level). We also conduct PADI Diving Instructor courses, Emergency First Response Instructor Course and IDC Staff Instructor Courses
We also conduct Coral Reef Conservation Specialty courses in affiliation with PADI Project Aware Organization.
Partnerships
MS&WS currently has a partnership with PADI, Whale shark Research Co. UK and PADI Project AWARE Organization.
Milestones
After the registration of MS&WS on the 28th January 2007 the institute has trained over 22 candidates to PADI Divemaster level and 18 to PADI Instructor level. The Institute also trained 15 Emergency First Response Instructor and 5 IDC Staff Instructors.
Future
Our Marine Research Laboratory will teach Courses in Marine Biology, Marine Science and Oceanography courses. The faculty will train Instructors in the Area of Wind Surfing and Sailing Hyperbaric Medicne and Decompression chamber oprating courses.
